The website Good Girl Art has a nice selection of pulp fiction book covers with a burlesque and stripper theme.
"In Vintage Paperback art, most strippers are wholesome, innocent looking girls who are just having fun and showing off for a group of great young guys. The sleaze publishers showed a bit more of the hard edge but most of these never made it into the open racks on the news-stand."
The author of the website provides some interesting information about the original artists who painted the images for the book covers.
Some of the copy on these covers is shocking, but there is also some beautiful artwork. I especially like the cover of Strip Artist and how it shows the musician below the dancer.
If anyone knows where I could buy any of these books, please let me know.
