Girl with pasties photo by geishaboy500I have learned a lot about burlesque in the last two years that I've been performing with and managing the band for Pink Flamingo Burlesque. One of the things I haven't been able to figure out is how the ladies keep those pasties on, even with all the jumping and twirling (yes I am backstage often, but No, I don't stare).

As it happens there are many methods for pastie sticking from various glues to tapes and every burlesque girl seems to have her own favourite methods. "Paste won't keep your pasties on" is an informative article that answers this often-asked question.

Jo Weldon interviewed several burlesque dancers to find out their methods -- including Ravenna Black who we performed with at 2008's Vancouver International Burlesque Festival.

Given all the different products available, there's room for improvement. In the words of Vagina Jenkins, "I wish there were some sort of product that held better, set up even faster, and didn't hurt like hell when it came time for removal." Ouch!

The article actually solved two mysteries for me: I wondered why there was toupee tape back stage. I was quite sure no one was wearing a toupee. Now I know!
