Formerly known as the Burr Theatre, the 1927 theatre is valued as one of the only surviving atmospheric theatres in B.C. and one of only a few remaining in Canada. The inside has been completely restored and it's beautiful!
The theatre is just a block from the Columbia SkyTrain station, so it's easy to get to even if you don't live in New West. Tickets for the show will be available very soon....
In the 1920s movies were becoming the premier form of popular entertainment. The Columbia was built during the heyday of the North American theatre chains, when the design of the building was considered a key part of the total movie-going experience.
More info about the Columbia Theatre can be found on their website.
