Nick's Blues EP
Nick's Blues EP

Thanks for purchasing "Swing Me, Blues Me" by the Blue Morris 6!

Now... Please go directly to the "Nick's Blues" EP download site! where you can purchase and download the entire 20 minute EP for just $3 Canadian!

The version of Nick's Blues on the album Swing Me, Blues Me was edited down to about seven minutes to make it fit on the CD with all the other songs. But we wanted to offer you the entire piece as it was performed in the studio. Improvised music like this really wasn't meant to be edited.

Thanks for your interest in our music. I hope you enjoy the complete version of Nick's Blues.

By day I work in the publishing business, and I'm lucky to be sent to Book Expo America each year where I can meet with other publishers, talk about books, and most importantly, get free books, including books that have not yet been released.

At this year's BEA in Washington DC I picked up a book with a cover that really caught my eye, and it's a book that indirectly has a lot to say about jazz.

On the cover is a lamp with its shade tilted. The working title of the book is A Perfect Mess: The Hidden Benefits of Disorder. The cover claims it will show us "how crammed closets, cluttered offices, and on-the-fly planning make the world a better place."

Not Quite Hitchcock Promo Image The wrap party for the short film Not Quite Hitchcock gave us the opportunity to play different music than the classic swing we are used to. If you're looking for samples of how we normally sound, these are not the files to download. If you want to hear a different side of the Blue Morris 6, check these out.

The last track is a medley of improvised music. The first section started as a blues in Bb. Carly then jumped back on stage and started singing a song she wrote--a song which was originally written for different chord changes, but seems to work wonderfully on the blues. The second part steals some ideas from the sountrack to the film "Not Quite Hitchcock." And the third part is another improvisation, which I am calling "Who Dat?" because that's what Nick is shouting behind Ian's solo. Preview or download the MP3s below.

The Language We All Understand

Music is a language that takes many years of study to be able to speak fluently. And yet even those who cannot speak the language can understand it. Even the tone deaf person can understand music on some level.
