Here's a great video clip of the Asylum Street Spankers with Christina Mars playing the musical saw. The sound quality on this is far better than most live music videos on YouTube, and this is a great little waltz from the Spankers.
I've always thought that drummers really only need a snare, brushes, and a hi-hat, which is all you get here. It's really all that's needed for small venue gigs. A full drum kit raises the over all volume of the band to a level that's often inappropriate for small venues, especially restaurants. |

Hazrat Inayat Khan "The more one studies the harmony of music, and then studies human nature, how people agree and how they disagree, how there is attraction and repulsion, the more one will see that it is all music." -- Hazrat Inayat Khan
I found this quote buried in my palm pilot which I am vacating for something new. It reminds me of something I once wrote, Jazz Is Life. |

I have made far too many errors when transposing our music for the horn players in the band. Greg wants Bb charts and Nick wants Eb charts. I always seem to mess up the Eb charts, poor Nick, so here's a handy transposition chart I've made for myself which some of you may find useful. |

As promised here's the video of the Blue Morris 6 Swing Band performing S'Wonderful at the Maple Ridge Jazz and Blues Festival 2006. The wind really picked up during Nick's solo! Of course, Nick doesn't really need that music in front of him.
