Audrey Hepburn at Tiffany's
Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly
At a recent rehearsal with the Blue Morris 6 we performed Moon River in 4/4 time based on a simple arrangement I made to make the song suitable for blues dancing. The song is originally in waltz time.

I recorded the session and transcribed my chord playing for the record.

You can download a PDF of the transcription here, as well as an MP3 of the performance. It's only one chorus of the entire recording, but it has all the ideas in there.

It's not a note-for-note transcription. I prefferred to write down all the ideas into an arrangement, which I find more useful.

Speaking of Audrey Hepburn, Henry Mancini recalled: "'Moon River' was written for her. No one else had ever understood it so completely. There have been a thousand versions of 'Moon River', but hers is unquestionably the greatest. When we previewed the film, the head of Paramount was there, and he said, 'One thing's for sure. That song's gotta' go.' Audrey shot right up out of her chair! Mel Ferrer had to put his hand on her arm to restrain her. That's the closest I have ever seen her come to losing control."

I guess this makes it 1001 versions. Hope you like it.

Credits for the recording:
Carly Jepsen - vocals
Blue Morris - guitar
Jake of Chocolate Soup - drums

Greg Lui and Nick Kempinski also play solos on the recording, which is not included in this excerpt, even though their solos were great as usual. I want to save it for a demo CD.
