What a fantastic night! Jim of the Pacific Blues Cooperative asked us to "play with ass." Nick and Greg played like they haven't had sex in 10 years. Boy did they sound hungry! Carly was perfect that night. She has such a great voice for the blues. And Alex Kelley is great to work with. He feeds me so many ideas I can incorporate into my rhythm playing.

Below are the free MP3 samples, as promised.

MP3s have been removed for archival purposes, sorry.

"'Deed I Do" is a song we normally play at a faster tempo. Carly came up with the idea to play it slow. She sounds fantastic on this cut.

While we were playing "Summertime" a certain Mr. Russell Nuttenhunny jumped in with his alto sax to play a very rousing solo with us.

The third track posted here, "This is the End" was the last song we played that night and it is 100% improvised. We came to the end of our setlist and some guy in the crowd asks me to play 3 more songs. So we just made this up based on the blues form.

I had no idea Nick was going to take the mic and start improvising spoken word, and Carly's singing is all improvised as well. I'm calling it "This is the End" since it was the last song we played, and it comes from Carly's lyrics.

Judging from the fact that everyone was dancing and there was literally no space left for more dancers, I think our music was well appreciated. Next time we will have to charge for entrance, but trust me it will be worth it!

"... your band really came together at the Vancouver blues party on Friday night as part of the Labour Day Blues weekend! You all put the ass in the sass, that's for sure. And that baritone saxist, fantastique! Contratulations on a great performance and thanks so much for playing the party, it was top notch!"
