Ambient Alternative at the Anza poster

I'll be playing guitar in this cool event. I'm excited about this one because we finally have a line-up of bands that will go together well. I've played many gigs with Elza in Vancouver but over the last two years we always seem to get paired up with good, but mis-matched bands. Usually we are opening for bands that are of a completely different genre.

So one day I suggested Elza just produce her own show, that way she can choose the bands that we play with. I suggested she call it something like "A night of Post-Rock," or some such thing. Well, now it's happening. She called it "Ambient Alternative at the Anza."

The poster is pretty cool too. Yes there will actually be cello, but I don't think there will be a cat. All the details for the show are below. I hope to see you there.

Elza's music is introspective, haunting and emotionally charged. Her dark and intricate sound is inspired by a wide variety of styles, drawing mainly from 90's alternative acts and mixed in seamlessly with her classical piano training and synths explorations. Elza brings her studio-born dreams to audiences with 7-piece live band, dazzling crowds with her rich, dark grooves.

Boy Breaking Glass sounds like a band from a future past that never happened, but, should have. A driving sound with layers of dark and light, it harkens back to the 80s new wave and 90s trip hop movements, with a modern indie rock approach and intelligent song writing.

With story-like lyrics and meticulous soundscapes, Au4’s sweeps its listeners into a world where fantasy dances with science, where the sacred joins the profane, where simplicity embraces complexity, and where life meets death. Listeners travel amidst the lush layers of pads and strings, operatic incantations of angels, pounding rhythms of deep electronic sequences, and the intimate whispers of singer and guitar.

Bright Red Kite's expansive and eclectic sound features effects-laden arpeggios dancing over layered, atmospheric synths, a clinical rhythm section, and doomsday baritone crooning.
