I'm starting a new series of live guitar lessons on Youtube and for the first one, I examined the fantastic guitar intro to Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart." I've always loved playing this intro. There's so much for us to learn from it too.
The tab below shows what we wrote out in the first video (we will cover the rest in the next video that will be out shortly).
Try to learn how we made the solo, not just read the numbers. We see that he used the same chord/arpeggio shape over several chords: the A, B, C#m and the D. That's a lot of use out of one shape on the fretboard.
The following tabs are for the second video that covers the rest of the guitar intro to the song. Beginning with the necessary theory that we need to be able to play the intro. This is the E Major scale harmonized:

If you have any questions about the song or the video, feel free to leave a comment on the Youtube video page and I'll try to answer it in the next one. Please consider subscribing to my channel so you'll be updated when new videos come out.
